Rako Wireless Lighting Control - Quick Introduction

Rako wireless lighting control system is a retro-fit solution to existing homes. It provides light dimming, light switching and mood lighting scene control for these existing installations with out the need for re-wiring. This is achieved by using wireless technology. There are 2 basic devices in a rako system, the Receiver and the Wireless Remote Control Transmitter.

The Rako Receiver is wired to the light fitting and will switch on/off or dim up/down the lights. There are different types of Rako receivers for different lamp types, also a differnet receiver to operate motorised screens / blinds. These are quite small devices that are attached to the fitting to be controlled.

The Rako wireless remote control Transmitter is battery operated, and sends coded instructions to the Rako dimmer Receiver.

Getting Started

A basic Rako wireless lighting control system needs just 1 Dimmer Receiver and 1 wireless Transmitter. NO computers are needed to set up. Just wire the dimmer Receiver to the light fitting to be controlled and a wireless remote control Transmitter to give it the instructions.

Light Dimming Example:


Wire the Rako wireless light dimmer in-line with the lamp. The rako dimmer can be hidden in the ceiling for down lighters. Or a rako dimmer can be fitted with a plug and socket for use with table lamps. There is a 12vDC/24vDC light dimmer version for marine and caravan / motor home installations.

Select a Rako Wireless Remote Control Transmitter There are 3 basic types of Rako wireless remote control transmitter.

Wall Mounted Keypads - There are 2,5 and 7 button versions for lighting control and 3 and 6 button versions for screen / blinds control. These devices are battery operated and fit to a standard back box to the wall like a normal light switch.

Hand Held Remote. There is a 7 button version for lighting control and a 3 button version for blinds control. Programmable Remote Control - Control every light in the system from anywhere in the property.

Smart Phone Version. Control every light in the system from anywhere in the property via your existing WiFi router. Free download apps are available for Apple iPhone, iPad and Android devices.

Rako Programmable Controller - A a central control unit with a programmable clock for automatic light control, macro control for programmable light sequences


The Rako Process
First - each Rako wireless remote control Transmitter is set to a unique address using tiny dip-switch selectors on the back of the unit. Second - each Rako dimmer Receiver goes through a learning process that is taught which Transmitter to listen to and then it will automatically ignore all the others. Using this very simple process, it is possible to start with a lighting system for just one room, then upgrade the whole property over a period of time. No Re-Wiring. No-Mess.
